Families:

Massachusetts is a “right to shelter” state.  This means for families (meaning those who are pregnant or have children under 21 years old) in need of shelter, you must call the MA Executive Office of Housing & Livable Communities through the Department of Transitional Assistance: 866-584-0653, 8am – 5pm Monday – Friday.

A call center representative will record your contact information and refer you to a Homeless Coordinator if you want to apply.  The Homeless Coordinator will help you complete your application and see if you are eligible.

Coordinated Entry:

New Bedford’s Coordinated Entry System works to connect individuals who are experiencing homelessness outside or in a place not meant for human habitation (such as in a car, tent or abandoned building) or are fleeing/attempting to flee a domestic violence situation to services.

Coordinated Entry will work to connect households to any housing opportunity that is available.
